Spicing up Countryfile Live

We've just got back from a very hot four days at Countryfile Live. We loaded the Chutney Chiller into the car and headed up there on Wednesday evening, praying that the weather wouldn't be too unbearable whilst standing out in a field at Blenheim Palace for four days.

A few weeks back, our friends at Surfy's Home Curing invited us along to sample Peanut Chutney on their pitch in the British Charcuterie tent. Of course, as a young company, we jumped at the opportunity. Kit and I hatched a plan to try and produce as many jars as possible in the time frame we had, so that we could head up to the festival well stocked. 

By the time Thursday morning came about, I was ready... crackers in one hand, a bulk jar of Peanut Chutney in the other. I loaded up some samples and we were ready to go.

The first jar of Peanut Chutney was bought at 9:53 on Thursday morning, and for the next four days it showed no signs of slowing down. On Friday evening I called my uncle to devise a second plan on how we were going to get through Saturday. Kit had been hard at work in the kitchen all day, jarring up even more Peanut Chutney. 

Saturday came about, and we launched the Small & Spicy jar - these 40g taster jars were perfect for people who wanted to buy a little gift for a friend at Countryfile (and also helped us out as we were running out of stock!) I know, they look perfect and they'd be great for lunchboxes too - we're now working out how we launch these as a regular product after their success this weekend! 

 

 

Saturday was also the day we witnessed some of the best Peanut Chutney reactions ever, with the gold medal going to a chap called Will, who simply said "holy sh*tballs, that's amazing" before leaving with a few jars. 

We had a great time at Countryfile Live, and made some new friends in the charcuterie world: Cwm Farm make their own incredible cured meats - try their black pudding with some Peanut Chutney; the guys from the Great British Charcuterie Company in Brighton, who stocked an incredible charcoal cheddar (also works well with Peanut Chutney); The Real Cure who use Dorset venison to make an amazing chorizo... which, believe it or not, also works with Peanut Chutney; and the team at Hot Smoked who supply all sorts of smoking materials so you can make your own foods that will work fantastically with Peanut Chutney.
